Laundry Centers at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center
Washers and Dryers for Small Spaces
Laundry Centers are an All-in-One Solution
When space is at a premium you may not have room for a full-size, side by side washer and dryer pair. A laundry center may be just what you need. Laundry centers feature a washer on the bottom and a dryer above. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) carries major brand laundry centers from GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Speed Queen, and Maytag.
Just like side-by-side laundry units, these laundry centers are available with either gas or electric (240v) dryers, and need to be vented outside. Compact models are 24″ wide, while 27″ wide laundry centers will give you full-versions of both washer and dryer in a stacked configuration. The 27″ models not only have larger capacity, but will also have most of the same features and cycles that you'd find on their separate counterparts.
Carefully check all dimensions (height, width, and depth) to make sure that the laundry center will fit in the space you have available. You'll need hot and cold water connections, as well as 240v. electricity or gas line for the dryer, and a dryer vent.
If you don't have either 240v. electricity or gas available for the dryer there are special models designed to work on 120v. but they will take longer to dry. There are also dryer models that are designed to work without an external vent, but there are tradeoffs to be made with these dryers as well. Finally, you may also consider full-sized front load washer with matching dryers that can be stacked. We'll have a future blog covering these laundry options as well.
