The Work Triangle

For decades designers have been taught and have been teaching about a work triangle in the kitchen. A place to cook food (range or oven), a place to store food (refrigerator), and a place to prepare food (sink). The idea was that these points are connected by an imaginary line forming a triangle and should be in somewhat close (but not too close) proximity.

Recently, the work triangle has been challenged by the notion that it might make sense to locate refrigerator or freezer drawers to be placed in a pantry area for example. Beer and wine might be kept cool in an entertainment area, and kids could access fruit and snacks from an undercounter refrigerator located in a rec room. Designers now feel free to adapt the idea of the work triangle to the notion of activity flows.

ID-24R Refrigerator and ID-24FI Freezer Drawers

The all-new Sub-Zero lineup of Integrated refrigeration includes the widest range of models of any brand, including undercounter units in three new widths. The 24”-wide ID-24R Integrated all-refrigerator drawers (a first for Sub-Zero) provide leading food-preservation performance and go-anywhere design flexibility. This model holds 4.0 cubic feet of food in two storage drawers with removable dividers. Additionally, dampened drawer slides result in a smooth, high-end cabinetry feel. The customizable drawer fronts can be fitted with panels and handles that blend in with literally any room’s décor — making the ID-24R a practical, beautiful option in a kitchen, master suite, bar or home theater space.

The 24”-wide ID-24FI Integrated all-freezer drawers (a first for Sub-Zero) provide leading food-preservation performance and go-anywhere design flexibility. This model holds 3.8 cubic feet of food in two storage drawers with removable dividers. It also comes with an automatic icemaker and a “max ice” feature capable of increasing purified ice production by up to 30 percent for a 24-hour period.

As with all two-drawer models in the Integrated line, the ID-24R and ID-24FI come with interior LED lighting and stands 34.5” tall to fit below standard countertops. Touchscreen technology allows you to precisely control temperatures and provides more access to more settings. High-quality stainless steel panels and handles are available as sales accessories.
