UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE AND KITCHEN CENTER AND VALENCIA, CA

Valencia is a popular neighborhood in Santa Clarita in Los Angeles County. Santa Clarita dates back to 1769, when the first Europeans as part of the Spanish Portola expedition arrived. The party came up over the San Fernando Valley pass to camp near the river.

There was a native village there and a wedding taking place. Franciscan missionary, Fray Juan Crespi, who was traveling with the group named the river Santa Clara, and suggested the location as suitable for a mission. The less strenuous Conejo Valley trail proved to be preferable and the Mission San Fernando Rey de Espana was established elsewhere.

By the 1960s there were new plans for the area. The first master planned piece of Valencia was presented by the Newhall Land and Farming Company with development beginning in 1967. Modern day Valencia is notable for the landscaped boulevards that connect the apartment buildings, office parks, shopping centers and single family homes. Valencia also has a number of major schools including College of the Canyons, California Institute of the Arts, Valencia High School and Golden Valley High School.
