UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE AND KITCHEN CENTER AND SOUTH PASADENA, CA

The city of South Pasadena is located in the West San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles County, California and has an extensive history. The original South Pasadena inhabitants were members of the Hahamog-na tribe. Native American dwellings lined the South Pasadena Arroyo Seco. This has lead to South Pasadena having a strong claim as possessing the most historic, oldest sites in the San Gabriel Valley.

The city of South Pasadena was incorporated on 2 March 1888 with a population of approximately 500 residents. It was chartered as roughly a similar area of the current city of South Pasadena. When the Pacific Electric Short Line was completed, the entire city was put within easy walking distance of a number of “red car” stations. 

Today, the streets of South Pasadena are lined with a number of native California tree species, including walnut, sycamore, ash, sequoia, and redwood. With virtually no palm trees in certain parts of the city and very few stucco Spanish Colonial style houses, South Pasadena is used as a stand in for Northeastern and Midwestern towns in television shows and movies. The population has increased to approximately 25,000 residents with an area of 3.42 square miles.
