UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE AND KITCHEN CENTER AND NEWBURY PARK, CA

The town of Newbury Park lies within the Conejo Valley in the Greater Los Angeles area adjacent to the Santa Monica Mountains. Most of Newbury Park lies within the Thousand Oaks city limits, with 28,000 of the 110,000 residents of Thousand Oaks living in Newbury Park.

Newbury Park takes its name from its founder, Egbert Starr Newbury. E.S Newbury owned thousands of acres in the Conejo Valley, which was mostly fields of wheat and barley. Along with John Edwards and Howard Mills, E.S Newbury was the first to purchase the former Rancho El Conejo land in the 1870s. Newbury relocated his family from Michigan to California for health reasons, and just four years later, he became the first Conejo Valley postmaster, with the post office located near their home in the current location of the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks. 

Today, Newbury Park has been ranked among the safest and wealthiest U.S communities. It has the 11th highest income per capita and the 4th highest median household income in the United States.
