The beach city of Malibu is approximately 30 miles west of Downtown Los Angeles, California. It is well known for its delightful Mediterranean climate and the beautiful strip of coast spanning 21 miles. The area is known as the home of Hollywood film stars, and other prestigious residents. Most Malibu homes are within reach of the Pacific Coast Highway that traverses the city.

Malibu has an extensive history dating back to the original Chumash settlers. The area was named “Humaliwo,” which translates to “surf sounds loudly.” Humaliwo village was located near Malibu Lagoon and was occupied from 2,500 BCE as the second largest Chumash settlement and important political center. 

Today, Malibu or “the Bu” as it is nicknamed by locals and surfers has a population of approximately 12,600 residents. It is also a popular tourist location with some of the most beautiful beaches in California including Zuma Beach, state parks and recreation areas appealing to surfers and nature lovers alike.
