UNIVERSAL APPLIANCE AND KITCHEN CENTER AND ENCINO, CA

With its central location in the San Fernando Valley and the Santa Monica Mountains north slope hills, Encino is referred to as the Valley Beverly Hills. Encino is an affluent community that is flanked by Sherman Oaks, Bel-Air, Brentwood, Reseda and the Sepulveda Basin, Tarzana.

The name Encino is derived from the Spanish word for Oak, and the area was first discovered in 1769 when the European explorers as part of the Spanish Portola expedition were traveling up through the Sepulveda pass and stayed for two nights at what is now the Los Encino’s State Historic Park. The Franciscan missionary monk, Juan Crespi with the expedition was chronicling most of the mission and referred to the area as “The Valley of St. Catherine of Bononia of the Oaks” This was shortened to Encino, but the actual neighborhood was not established until 1845.

Today, Encino spans an area of 9.5 square miles and has over 41,000 residents, making it one of the lowest Los Angeles population densities. Encino has a number of public and private schools, parks and recreation areas, with a number of celebrities calling Encino, home.
