Burbank is one of Los Angeles County’s incorporated cities in the San Fernando Valley. Known as the “Media Capital of the World”, Warner Bros. Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company and other significant production faciliities are headquartered in here.

The city was named after a dentist and entrepreneur,  David Burbank who setup a sheet ranch in 1867.  The city Burbank consists of two distinct areas (downtown/foothill). Hollywood Burbank Airport, legally Bob Hope Airport is located in downtown Burbank.

Early history of Burbank is that the city Burbank occupies two land grant parcels from the Spanish colonial days.

The first parcel was owned by Rancho San Rafael as the land granted in 1798 to Don Jose Maria Verdugo, while the other was created in 1821 when Mexico gained independence from Spain. The area was the location of a strategic military battle to unseat the Spanish Governor of California.

The town of Burbank grew steadily, weathering the depression and drought that hit in the 1890s to develop into a thriving economy. It was incorporated into a city in 1911 and continued to grow despite the land boom collapse. Today, Burbank has an impressive economy with workers in retail, restaurants and entertainment.
