Bel Air is a neighborhood on Los Angeles’ Westside. It sits in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, approximately 12 miles away from Downtown LA. Bel Air crosses Sunset Boulevard and is near the main campus of the University of California, Los Angeles. Bel Air is also home to the famous Bel Air Country Club and Hotel Bel Air.

Founded in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell, Mr Bell owned property in Santa Fe Springs and a large parcel on what is currently Bel Air Road. Bell developed his property and subdivided it into large residential lots and he also built the Santa Monica Bel Air Beach Club and Bel Air Country Club, creating an immediate community.

Today, along with Beverly Hills and Brentwood, Bel Air is part of the high-price Westside “three Bs.” This affluent area has been home to a number of television shows and movies filmed in the area. There is also an international annual event, the Bel Air Film Festival that has been an event since 2008.
