Choosing the Right Grill
Premium Outdoor Grills at UAKCGet a Grill That LastsHere's our recommendation for buying a new outdoor grill. Get a good quality grill. It will last forever. Or, go to the home improvement chain, and plan to be back there in a few years repeating the process.Go to Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center for your next grill, and you won't need to come back for your next grill in a long, long, time. That's because they sell the industry's best grills. Let's take a look at the UAKC grill lineup:Alfresco Alfresco is a go to brand for a grill that has great quality, a good selection of grills, and a name you can trust. Grills are what they do. There's nothing exotic about their grills. They're just great grills that will not disappoint. Buy an Alfresco grill and it's going to do the job for many years to come:CaliberThe Caliber brand has some special features that are worth knowing about and a unique grill model that will change the way you think about grilling and entertaining.Dacor Dacor is a luxury appliance brand that began right here in California. When Dacor grills were launched a few years ago, I immediately became one of their big fans. Their grill has lights. I used to hate standing out in our grilling area with the tongs in one hand and a flashlight in the other trying to figure out if the steaks were done. Voilà Dacor solves that problem.DCSDCS is another grill that made its -

New Appliances Fit for Los Angeles
GE to Market Haier AppliancesUAKC offers more appliance choices with HaierIt's only been a couple of short years since GE Appliances became part of the Worldwide Haier Group of appliances. At this year's Builder/Kitchen and Bath Show, GE announced the addition of Haier Appliances to its lineup. This is good news to many in the LA basin. There are an amazing number of homes and apartments in the LA area which have 24" wall and base cabinets. Replacing appliances in these cabinets can be a real problem since most US appliances are designed to fit in 30" cabinets. We've been able to get by all these years by replacing appliances with some 24" wide low end brands which have limited appeal, and more recently with some European brands which commonly are built at 60 centimeters, a width that fits nicely in a 24" space. Also, both Viking and Sub Zero Wolf have added some products in this dimension. Therefore, it's really good news that GE is now launching an updated line of Haier appliances that (for the most part) are designed to fit that 24" space. Here's what GE's vice president of sales, Robert Posthauer had to say at this years IBS/KBIS in Orlando:“Haier offers a full product suite of both built-in and freestanding appliances that fit the needs for smaller footprints and offers our customers new opportunities." The line includes some needed products for this space such as a 24" over the range microwave as well as this stunning 4 door refrigerator -

Buying Appliance Packages
Save with a One Brand PackageUAKC is the Best Choice for Appliance SolutionsHere's an idea for saving money on your next appliance purchase. When you're purchasing more than two appliances at once, you should seriously consider the package savings that you can now get from several of the top brands.Let's use Thermador for an example. For several years Thermador has been offering a 1-2-Free appliance promotion. For example, buy a qualifying Thermador cooktop and oven and get a dishwasher FREE, or buy a qualifying Thermador range and get a dishwasher free, but you get the idea. It's not tricky either. Not like those promotions that are designed to hook you, so there's no way to really get the free product. There are numerous variations available.Thermador is not the only brand that offers this type of deal. Fisher and Paykel as well as their sister company DCS have similar offers with a double drawer dishwasher as the free appliance. GE's offer is buy 3 qualifying appliances and get a free dishwasher valued up to $1000. Buy qualifying products from Jenn-Air and you can earn over $3,000 in credits to complete your kitchen purchase, plus up to $1000 towards your appliance package installation.Well, there is one tiny, tiny catch to all these FREE appliances, credits, and installation appliances. They only work when you buy a single brand of appliances. So, if for example, you want a Sub Zero refrigerator, a Viking Range, and a Miele dishwasher, you may just find yourself out -

Black Stainless - The latest Appliance Color
Latest Appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterBlack Stainless SteelA quick look around the major appliance displays at the January 2017 *IBS/KBIS confirmed that the new color/finish Black Stainless is THE big trend in appliance colors. Of course, stainless steel is not going anywhere. In a recent survey, 72% of respondents opted for stainless steel. Truth is, there are tons of appliance colors out there. The custom high end range company BlueStar offers several hundred colors, many of them quite stunning. Luxury appliance brands such as Viking, Bertazzoni, La Cornue, and others also offer their appliances in a variety of colors. But for many of us these brands might not be realistic options, and the bright colors aren't for everyone.Voilà! Black Stainless is here to save they day. It's new and it's different. It really looks classy, but I wouldn't call it bold or risky. After all, it's a combination of the two most popular appliance colors. As near as I can determine KitchenAid was the first major appliance brand to offer Black Stainless steel. Recently, Samsung jumped on the Black Stainless bandwagon, followed now by Whirlpool, Frigidaire, GE, Electrolux, and LG. I do know that some supplementary brands are on board with this new finish such as Sharp (microwaves) and at least one of the vent hood manufacturers, Zephyr.I think Black Stainless looks good in the photos, but even better when you see it and touch it. Believe it -

Think Black Friday is Done? Think Again.
Ongoing Black Friday Deals at UAKCBlack Friday Appliances prices are too good for just one day. Many of the deals are ongoing through what we might call Black Friday Week or Black Friday Month. Here are a few of the favorites at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center:KitchenAidWe've written about KitchenAid here before. It's one of my favorites. (Confession: I have KitchenAid in my house, right now.) It's what we call a Premium Brand. More deluxe than the standard appliance brands, but not into the exclusive category of Sub Zero Wolf, Thermador, Viking, or Miele.KitchenAid's Black Friday offer goes all the way through the end of 2016, but don't wait if you want these for the Holiday's. Remember, there's ordering, shipping, delivery, and installation to consider. It's worth it though - you can save $1600 on a package. Click on photo below for details:Sub Zero WolfI'd also recommend the collection of small kitchen appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. Wolf Gourmet offers countertop appliances including a superb Toaster/Oven Combo, a Blender, and a 2-slice or 4-slice Toaster.NespressoUAKC also offers the exclusive Nespresso Coffee Maker lineup. I first came across Nespresso in the walled city of Avignon in the South of France, where they had an entire Nespresso store. If you are a coffee lover, you're going to love the choices from Nespresso. But hurry, their Black Friday Sale, 30% off, ends on Nov. 30th. There's much more, so call or visit one of the two Universal Appliance and Kitchen Centers -

Appliance Finishes and Colors
Are Stainless Steel Appliances on the way out?Don't bet against Stainless SteelEvery so often we hear some predictions that stainless steel is on the way out as an appliance finish. Is that like to happen soon? No. Stainless steel is going to be the top choice for appliance buyers for years to come. Here's how it stands today:New constructionProduction home builders usually offer a base appliance package in white or black with an upgrade to stainless steel. Upgrading to stainless steel appliances continues to be a very popular choice for new home buyers.Custom homesProfessional/Restaurant style appliances are a top choice for custom homes buyers. Several of the top brands in this category only offer stainless steel, though some color selection is an option for Viking and Bertazzoni brands. (BlueStar, a pro-style line of cooking products has a very wide selection of colors.) In addition some elite luxury brands such as Le Cornue offer a selection of designer colors.Remodels and replacement salesCustomers who choose to replace their kitchen appliances from the popular entry level appliance brands, eg. GE, Whirlpool, and Frigidaire, available in white, black or stainless steel will almost always upgrade to stainless steel (except for basic apartment replacement sales). Though premium brands such as KitchenAid, GE Profile, or Bosch may be available in white and/or black, their sales skew heavily toward stainless steel. Kitchenaid has recently introduced a finish called black stainless steel that is getting a lot of attention.Whatever -

Post Labor Day Grilling - Perfect for Soucal
Outdoor Grills at UAKCBest Grilling Brands in Southern California Caliber - Dacor - Wolf - Viking - DCS - Lynx - Coyote - AlfrescoThese are among the best outdoor grills available. You can find them all at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. What are the most important features to have on a grill? It varies from customer to customer.Power? That's very important for some people. For them, the higher the BTU rating, the better the grill.Size? Some folks like to grill for a big crowd. They want the biggest grill they can get. Invite the whole neighborhood!!Precision? Turn that sucker down to a low, low simmer - then fire it up so that it heats the entire back yard. For me, when I first saw the new Dacor grill (some years ago) I saw a grill feature that I'd never seen before, and I became a Dacor grill fan immediately - even before I even knew about all the great features on Dacor grills. LightingI often grilled at dusk or later, and it annoyed me that my patio lighting didn't illuminate the grill area. What a pain!! - standing there with a flashlight trying to check the doneness of the steaks. Dacor grills come equipped with lights. To me - This was a great idea!!Dacor GrillsHere's the rest of the Dacor grill story right from Dacor:Dacor‘s Discovery built-in outdoor grills feature professional-grade Epicure styling and come in stainless steel with chrome trim. Paralysis by Analysis
Deciding on a new appliance.UAKC can help you make the right decision.Recently, I wanted to buy an additional monitor for my office computer setup. I shopped around, and knew the prices, features, and sizes that would work for me. Yet, I agonized endlessly over this model or that, and I just couldn't decide. Suddenly, it struck me that I spent less time deciding over a new car that costs tens of thousands than over an inexpensive electronic device that cost only a few hundred dollars. Why was I spending all this time debating back and forth over something that cost so little? This is called paralysis by analysis. To one degree or another, we all have it. If you need a new refrigerator, a washer and dryer, or even an entire suite of kitchen appliances, you don't want to make a mistake....but, you also don't want to needlessly deny yourself these new appliances just because of your paralysis by analysis syndrome. Here's a suggestion: Call or visit Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center. I've know these folks for a long time (long before I began writing these blogs). They won't waste your time. They are very knowledgeable. Tell them what your situation is, and in no time at all they'll make a few recommendations. They'll try to match your requests for brand, quality level, pricing, etc. with the best overall choices that fit your needs. With their large selection of brands, and great pricing you really won't need to be shopping around. You can
