Preparing for your new appliances.
Get your space ready for new appliancesUAKC Delivers and Installs Appliances in Southern CaliforniaIf you are expecting an appliance delivery and installation, here are some tips that will help make the installation go smoother. Of course, Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) is your best choice for appliances in the Los Angeles market. Their professional delivery and installation crew is factory-trained and certified. Clear the way. Measure door openings to make sure that appliances will fit. Clear a path so that installers can navigate to the install location and make sure they have a place for their tools. Double check the appliance dimensions with the space so that you're sure that everything will fit. Installers may need to turn and maneuver the appliance to get it into the space. If you are providing any cords, hoses, etc. have them available at the location. Make sure that 208/240 cords are correct for your receptacle (ie. 3 prong or 4 prong). Dishwasher installation is to existing plumbing and electric. Verify that a 120v. electric receptacle is within reach as well as a drain, and a separate hot water hookup. The dishwasher drain hose is usually connected through the garbage disposer. If this is the case in your installation, the disposer should be within reach of the dishwasher drain hose. It's a good idea to call any unusual conditions to the attention of the installation crew ahead of time so that they can be prepared to deal with the situation when they arrive on -

More Reasons to Shop at UAKC in Southern California
Why Customers Love Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center During a recent celebrity cooking event at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center here's what UAKC owner, Igor Royz, had to say about his professional sales associates training. "We send our employees to appliance manufacturers all over the world to get factory training. They ARE professionals at what they do." Royz went on to talk about the services after the sale at UAKC. "We do in house installation. Our delivery personnel are our employees. They're factory certified to install the products that we sell." But, don't take it from us. Here's what others that were interviewed had to say. Baron Rogers of Kelly Baron Design says, "Universal Appliance has been an integral part of our business - being able to go from sales all the way through installation. It cuts down a lot of lag time and there's less complication when dealing with one vendor that can cover the process from start to finish." "I've experienced that at some of those big box stores the people on the floor just don't know it. They're like the people that operate the fork lift or the pallet jack. They don't really know how it works or much about it at all. So if you want to learn the features and learn the equipment, you want to come to a place like this."- Ed Begley Jr. Here's the complete video (3 1/2 minutes) featuring interviews from those above as well as others. Sub Zero Refrigerator Installation Options
Options for Installing your Sub-Zero Built-In Refrigerator It's no surprise that you want your Sub-Zero refrigerator to have a stunning appearance in your new kitchen. The kitchen is the heart of your home, and the new Sub-Zero refrigerator you are purchasing is the cornerstone of your kitchen. Here are some of the choices you may need to make regarding the configuration of your refrigerator that will determine how it looks in your kitchen. Perhaps you are buying one of the very popular standard Sub-Zero Built-Ins with a stainless steel front, such as the BI42SD. You may elect to have it installed (by Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center) in a standard 24" deep cabinet. The refrigerator cabinet itself is 24" deep. The doors will not be flush with the cabinet and stick out a couple of inches. Most of the time this is not a big issue, and the stainless version is by far the most common configuration of a standard built-in refrigerator. There are some more custom options with this model, however. It is possible to have a flush inset installation if the refrigerator is recessed or with deeper cabinets. You may also want custom wood panels that match the cabinets. In that case you can order the refrigerator without the stainless steel doors so that it will accept custom panels. You may elect to have the custom panels fit into a frame for a framed installation, or you could have them installed as custom overlay panels which would be -

A primer on installing your own appliances.
We recommend having a professional install your appliances. However, if you are handy and insist on installing your appliances yourself, here are a few tips: Read the installation instructions that come with your appliances before you begin. Confirm that you have the right size circuit breakers available for electric appliances and the proper size gas lines for gas appliances. Make sure that your appliance is rated appropriately for the service that you do have. Convert as necessary from Natural to LP gas. (It is recommended that a professional do this.) Assemble all the tools that you will need for installation. Purchase all the needed parts, wires, connections, filters, etc. that you are going to need in advance. Do not throw away any packing material until the installation is complete. (If you need to return this product, you'll need them.) Also, if something is missing, it might just be that it is hidden in the packing materials. Make sure that you have drop cloths, mats, etc. to protect your floors and countertops. Turn off electric circuit breakers, gas connections, and water lines as needed before you begin. Read the installation instructions a second time. It is almost certain that you will encounter some obstacle in a do-it-yourself installation. When in doubt double check the installation instructions. or check on the manufacturers website. Sometimes a brief search on the internet will also be helpful if you get stumped. Before you begin, guess as to how much time you think you will need
