Save Money Everyday Using Your Appliances
Appliance Operation Tips from UAKCWe regularly use this blog to provide tips on how to save money on appliance purchases. See blogs below:Two Viking Range Events Will Save You MoneyLuxury Appliances on a BudgetHow to Get Free AppliancesHowever, today we're offering 5 tips on saving money on the operation of your appliances. Clean appliances operate more efficiently. A dirty gasket on your refrigerator can create air gaps and let cool air escape, causing the refrigerator to run more. Clogged up ports in your dishwasher spray arms make dishwasher run longer to get dishes clean. If possible run appliances during off peak hours to save on electricity. Many appliances have delay timers that allow users to set start and stop times. Use energy saving cycles. It's not enough just having a light wash, a vacation mode, or a cold water cycle on an appliance. In order to actually save energy/money appliance owners must select and utilize these cycles when appropriate. Clean filters regularly. Range hoods, dishwashers, refrigerators, and dryers, all may have filters that need to be either cleaned or replaced periodically so that they can operate properly and efficiently. Wash full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center Ratings and Reviews (13)
Customers Write (13) Nicholas likes Maida's "very professional help" I was in the market for three appliances (stackable washer/dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher) and kind of stumbled onto Universal Appliance at Laurel Canyon/Ventura. I was eating at one of the nearby restaurants in the 'mini-mall', saw the store and ventured in. It was very impressive...the showroom space is a lot larger than it first appears. They have a large selection of current model appliances from all of the major manufacturers...mostly medium and high-end brands. I ended up buying a Bosch dishwasher, Jenn Air refrigerator and Maytag stackable washer/dryer. What initially 'sold' me was the very professional help that I received from Maida, one of the sales associates. I had a few logistic/space problems that she helped me overcome. She would scour the computer for inventory and print up sheets on what I was considering. She would then take me to the exact model (or one similar) on the floor to discuss advantages/drawbacks of each appliance. The prices were totally competitive with what I had seen at the two other major appliance stores I had already shopped. There was no major wait (maybe a week?) to get the items. The delivery guys showed up on time and installed everything properly. I did have one issue with the dryer not heating and within two days of my call, they sent someone out who was able to troubleshoot the problem and fix it quickly (at no charge). What I liked about Maida is that she -

Spring Cleaning: Let's get that dishwasher clean!
To keep your dishwasher smelling fresh run a cycle (without dishes) using powdered lemonade instead of dishwashing detergent. Not only will this deodorize the dishwasher, but it will help remove the hard water stains. If your dishwasher interior just seems to retain odors put a few teaspoons of baking soda on the floor of the dishwasher and leave it overnight. Baking soda does a great job of absorbing odors and it will wash away during the next regular wash cycle. Finally, some dishwashers have filters that need cleaning. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's directions and clean out the filters often.
