Jenn-Air Connected Appliances
Jenn-Air Wall Ovens take voice orders from AlexaSmart Appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterJenn-Air® Connected Wall Ovens Respond To Alexa Voice CommandsEasy Upgradability Helps Ensure Ovens are "Future Proof"Jenn-Air® has been a true leader in using technology in their appliances, particularly in cooking products. A few years ago they launched a revolutionary oven with a 7" touch full color screen that serves as a culinary center automatically cooking food to the user's desired doneness. They've continued as an early adopter in "smart" appliances with connected wall ovens, that can be operated with apps for iPhones and Androids, and are tied in with Nest home controls. Now, they can be connected to Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. Here's how it works:Simple voice commands have been created for everything from preheating and setting timers to changing temperatures and cooking modes. For example, while hands are busy prepping and mixing ingredients, preheating the oven to a desired temperature can be initiated simply by saying "Alexa, tell Jenn-Air to preheat the oven to 400 degrees." Owners of Jenn-Air® Connected Wall Ovens can now use their voices, along with the brand’s existing IOS and Android wall oven apps, to control many essential functions of this luxury, high tech appliance. The new voice command feature, enabled by Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant, is easily activated using the brand’s free wall oven “Skill,” one of thousands available at the Alexa Skills Store.Jenn-Air® Connected Wall Ovens are already largely controllable using the IOS and Android mobile apps, whether for -

Saving Money on Luxury Brands
Save on Miele and Sub-Zero Wolf at UAKCMajor appliance brands are often divided into categories such as Economy brands Amana, and Mass market brands GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and Luxury brands Miele, and Sub-Zero Wolf. Some brands cross more than one category, while others squeeze in between. For example, there is an ongoing effort among some brands to carve out space between mass and luxury brands. These brands fit into categories such as Premium, eg. KitchenAid or even Super-Premium. Today, however, we're going to briefly discuss two brands that proudly consider themselves Luxury brands: Miele and Sub-Zero Wolf.Miele is a German brand that has a history that can be traced back to 1899. Their motto Immer Besser translates to Forever Better and the Miele family follows that principle today as a worldwide high end appliance brand. One of my favorite Miele products is this dual fuel 48" wide range.Sub-Zero Wolf is a U.S. enterprise based in Wisconsin. They lay claim to inventing built-in refrigeration for the home. A hugely successful company, Sub-Zero purchased the Wolf brand for residential use (Wolf continues as a separate company manufacturing restaurant ranges). Now, Sub-Zero Wolf offers a complete line of luxury refrigeration and cooking products for the home. Sub-Zero is famous for this Sub-Zero Pro 48 refrigerators. As Premium brands, both Miele and Sub-Zero Wolf are expensive, but that doesn't mean you can't save money when purchasing them. Here are some terrific offers available now at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center:SUB-ZERO WOLFUpgrade and Save on a -

Who's on First?
Sorting out AppliancesChoosing the right washing machineWhen you're choosing a new washing machine several factors come in to play, and effect our decision. Here are a few of them.Size:You need a machine big enough to do the job. Tub size can matter, but remember that front load machines will hold more than equivalent sized top load machine, and sorting and frequency of washing need to be factored in when selecting tub size.Cost:Everyone has a budget. Appliances can seem expensive, but think about the life span and how often you use your washer.Features:There are an abundance of features on today's washing machines. Make sure to take advantage of this, and don't buy a stripped down machine. I remember hearing about a customer who insisted on the most basic washer available, and later complained that it lacked a permanent press cycle.Brands:Brands DO make a difference, and it's easy to get confused. For example, the Whirlpool Corporation owns and manufactures several appliance brands, eg. Amana, Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Jenn-Air. However, that does not mean that these brands are the same. For example, Whirlpool laundry products are high quality and hugely popular. Even though Maytag washers and dryers are made by Whirlpool Corp, there are significant differences between Maytag and Whirlpool. Maytag has many heavy duty, commercial parts, that are absent on the Whirlpool as well as a longer warranty and a higher price. You may need advice in choosing between the Whirlpool and the Maytag and weighing the value of heavy duty -

Kitchen remodeling ideas on a budget
Budget Kitchen Remodels 3 Great tips - 1 Bad idea I've been searching online for good ideas to remodel a small kitchen on a budget. Not necessarily a full redo, but just a few things that might help perk up the room. Below are three of my favorite tips, and one that I really don't like much at all. 3 Great Tips Paint can solve a lot of problems. Need some contrast or brightness in a drab kitchen?Want your backsplash to stand out? Visit a paint store. Take photos of the kitchen and bring in samples. I really prefer the freestanding paint stores over the big box stores. These guys really know paint, and can give you good advice. Of course, if your working with a design professional she or he will be your color expert. Cabinets dominate the space in your kitchen, but replacing cabinets can blow your budget. Think about painting those wood-stained cabinets. White is very popular these days, and will give your kitchen a bright, updated look. Here are some other ideas that can add some drama to your kitchen. If you can spare the storage or move it elsewhere, consider removing some or all of your upper cabinets. It's amazing how much volume your kitchen will gain. For many of us who are...ahem, vertically challenged, those upper cabinets aren't practical anyway. Consider installing some shelves in the free space or even wall brackets to hand pots on. Another idea is to just remove the cabinet -

Compare Appliances Before Buying
All appliances are not the same ...even when they appear to be Get the facts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center One of the enduring myths about appliances is that if appliance brand A and B are manufactured by the same company or in the same factory, then those appliances are the same. Electrolux owns and makes Frigidaire, Electrolux, and Electrolux Icon brands. GE owns and makes Hotpoint, GE Café, Profile, and Monogram brands. BSH owns and makes Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau brands. Whirlpool owns and manufactures Amana, Jenn-air, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Whirlpool. At their laundry factory in Clyde, Ohio they build Whirlpool washing machines as well as Maytag washers. They're both great brands and each serves a specific niche in the marketplace. However, some people make the assumption that because they are made in the same factory a Maytag and Whirlpool washer are necessarily the same. Below are a comparably priced Maytag Maxima Front Load Washer and Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer. MAYTAG MAXIMA® FRONT LOAD WASHER WITH STEAM AND POWERWASH® SYSTEMMHW8100DW Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer with 6th Sense Technology: Stainless SteelModel: WFL98HEBU Are they the same? It's like asking if you and your brother or sister are the same as you. You may have a lot of similarities, but are you really the same? A leading consumer magazine rated the Maytag machine #1, saying that the Whirlpool performed nearly as well as the Maytag, and they gave the Whirlpool a "Best Buy" based on its price and -

Small Major Appliances for Urban Living
Headquarters for Compact Major Appliances Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center There's a trend in major cities towards small living quarters to accommodate young urban millenials who want urban living that is also affordable. In major appliances, brands from GE to Viking have begun to address this unfulfilled need. GE Launches Small Appliance Lines As cities grapple with housing shortages, the trend toward smaller living spaces is already a reality. Shrinking living spaces necessitate products and services that simplify, optimize and economize. "As we watch what’s happening in the U.S., there’s a clear trend toward smaller, more efficient living spaces," said Lou Lenzi, director of industrial design for GE Appliances. "There will always be a need for larger appliances for existing homes; however, we can’t ignore the growing need in urban environments. At Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center, you don't need to wait to address your space constraints. Compact appliances are available from a variety of manufacturers to fit a wide spectrum of needs and budgets. Here are a few examples: Refrigerators Danby 3 Cu. Ft. Cleaning New Ranges and Ovens
Various Range and Oven cleaning typesCheck them out at Universal Appliance and Kitchen CenterIf you're purchasing a new range or oven, you'll want to know how it cleans. An entry level range is likely not to have any cleaning cycle, so the cleaning is going to be do it yourself, perhaps with caustic oven cleaner. When moving up to more fully-featured ranges and ovens you'll find pyrolytic self-cleaning ovens. When the oven gets dirty, you select the self-cleaning cycle, the oven locks and for 2-4 hours gets extremely hot, and incinerates any burnt on spills. At the high end of the market, some of the luxury brand commercial looking stainless gas ranges and ovens may not have any automatic cleaning cycles. In the last few years GE, Maytag, Whirlpool, and others have begun offering other steam cleaning options for light cleaning of oven interiors. The consumer adds a cup or so of water to the bottom of the oven and selects a steam cleaning cycle. After 25 minutes the soil in the bottom of the oven has been loosened and the oven can be sponged out. For heavier cleaning, pyrolytic self-cleaning is still an optionWhirlpool and Maytag also offer a low temperature self-cleaning technology called Aqualift on some models. It also uses water, but Aqualift models are considered "self-clean" and do not have a pyrolytic self-clean option. Here's how Aqualift is described
