Your Guide to Choosing the Right Washer for Your Home
If you’re shopping for a new washing machine, you’re likely to be aware of the sheer number of different sizes, styles and designs. While top loading machines tend to be the most common, with more consumers focused on saving water and energy, front loaders have become increasingly popular. So, here we’ll walk you through how to choose the right washer for your home. Front Load vs Top Load vs Hybrid: The first thing you’ll need to decide to narrow down your choices is which design style is the best fit for your home. Front Load: These machines typically have a 50% larger capacity compared to a standard top load. Plus you can benefit from innovative features such as steam settings, auto dispensers and WiFi connectivity. Front load machines also tend to be easier on your clothes, as they are washed using friction rather than an agitator. Another benefit of front loaders is that they are more efficient. They use less water, electricity and detergent compared to other types. The spin capacity is also far faster, so more water will be spun out of your clothing to reduce drying times. The downsides to front load washing machines include potential for mold and mildew issues caused by standing water, more complicated repairs and a higher initial purchase cost. Top Load: Top load washers tend to be less costly as they are a more basic form of appliance. Even newer models lack the bells and whistles available on front loader or hybrid models. -

Should You Choose a Front Load or Top Load Washer?
Washing machines are a crucial necessity in any busy home. Many of us wash several loads of laundry each week. So, it is important that you choose the right machine to make your life easier. There are two basic types of washers; front load and top load. Each machine has its own pros and cons. So, here we will delve into whether you should choose a front load or top load washer for your home. Top Load Washers: As the name suggests, top load washers have a door sitting on the top of the machine. This opens into a large tub with either an impeller or an agitator inside. An agitator is a post in the center of the tub. It moves back and forth, so the laundry rubs against it, breaking apart any dirt or stains on the items. An impeller is a newer feature in top load machines. Rather than having an agitator post, there are rotating discs that are low profile at the bottom of the drum. This provides more space for a larger load while the clothes are still spun to rub together and get clean. The Pros and Cons of Top Loaders: The main advantage of top load washers is that they are far easier to load. Since the door is at waist height, you can toss in your laundry without needing to bend over and reach into the machine. However, if you are on the shorter side, using a top loader can be a -

Top Loading Agitator-Type Washing Machines
Traditional Washing Machines Still Popular Get the Best Selection of New Washers at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center When choosing a new washing machine consumers are faced with three basic types of washers. Front loading washing machines with horizontal wash cylinders, HE (High Efficiency) top loading washers, and traditional agitator type top loading washing machines. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) carries all three washer configurations.Traditional agitator type top loading washers, like Mom (or Grandma) use to have, are the most economical to purchase and the most expensive to operate. They use much more water than either HE top loaders or front load washers. The tub fills with water for the wash cycle immersing the clothes. The agitator chugs back and forth like a food mixer stirring the clothes in the soapy water. The wash cycle is followed by a rinse cycle to remove the soap, which is followed by spinning the final rinse water out of the machine. Many homemakers swear by their old agitator-type machines, and the major brands, GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Maytag, etc. still make and sell a lot of them. Another brand worth looking at in the top load configuration is Speed Queen. A leader in the commercial laundry field, Speed Queen is a durable product with a heavy duty motor and transmission and a stainless steel tub. While traditional top load washers use more water, they cost less than equivalent front load and HE -
