Pros & Cons Of Stacked Washer & Dryer Combo
No modern home is complete without its own set of laundry appliances. A washer and dryer helps you clean and prepare clothing, bedding, towels and more for everyday use, and a stacked washer and dryer combo is a great choice for many spaces. These combination units, also known as laundry centers, feature a dryer stacked on top of a washer, providing a unique alternative to traditional side-by-side laundry combos found in many homes. But is a stacked washer/dryer combo the right choice for you? To help inform your decision, we’ve compiled information on the pros and cons of stacked washer/dryer combination units. Pros Of A Stacked Washer & Dryer Combo The biggest advantage of a stacked washer/dryer combination is its ability to help save space in your laundry room. By orienting your laundry units vertically as opposed to horizontally, you free up floor space for other appliances and tools like an ironing board, laundry baskets, clothing racks and more. The stacked design makes these units particularly good for tight laundry rooms or small homes and apartments, as they’re designed specifically to maximize space where room is limited. Another plus to these appliances is their relative cost. The cost of a stacked washer/dryer combo tends to be less than the cumulative cost of an individual washer and dryer, making them a great choice for budget-conscious homeowners. Moreover, these units come in both gas-powered and electric-powered models, allowing you to choose the right appliance depending on your needs. Cons Of A Stacked -

It's only 24" wide, and it fits where others won't. The LG unit above uses a 120v motor to run both the washer and dryer. Of course, drying with 120v. power will take longer than a traditional 240v. unit, but sometimes that's all you have. The dryer is a ventless condenser model. All in all, there is no need for 240v., no need for a gas line, and no need for an exterior exhaust vent. Just hook up to water and drain lines, plug-in, and go. Some users complain about a longer dry time.Single unit Stacked Washer/Dryer GE GUD27ESSJWW Unitized Spacemaker® 3.2 DOE cu. ft. Washer and 5.9 cu. ft. Laundry Centers at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center
Washers and Dryers for Small SpacesLaundry Centers are an All-in-One SolutionWhen space is at a premium you may not have room for a full-size, side by side washer and dryer pair. A laundry center may be just what you need. Laundry centers feature a washer on the bottom and a dryer above. Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center (UAKC) carries major brand laundry centers from GE, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, Speed Queen, and Maytag.Just like side-by-side laundry units, these laundry centers are available with either gas or electric (240v) dryers, and need to be vented outside. Compact models are 24" wide, while 27" wide laundry centers will give you full-versions of both washer and dryer in a stacked configuration. The 27" models not only have larger capacity, but will also have most of the same features and cycles that you'd find on their separate counterparts. Carefully check all dimensions (height, width, and depth) to make sure that the laundry center will fit in the space you have available. You'll need hot and cold water connections, as well as 240v. electricity or gas line for the dryer, and a dryer vent.If you don't have either 240v. electricity or gas available for the dryer there are special models designed to work on 120v. but they will take longer to dry. There are also dryer models that are designed to work without an external vent, but there are tradeoffs to be made with these dryers as well. Finally, you may
