Compare Appliances Before Buying
All appliances are not the same ...even when they appear to be Get the facts at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center One of the enduring myths about appliances is that if appliance brand A and B are manufactured by the same company or in the same factory, then those appliances are the same. Electrolux owns and makes Frigidaire, Electrolux, and Electrolux Icon brands. GE owns and makes Hotpoint, GE Café, Profile, and Monogram brands. BSH owns and makes Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau brands. Whirlpool owns and manufactures Amana, Jenn-air, KitchenAid, Maytag, and Whirlpool. At their laundry factory in Clyde, Ohio they build Whirlpool washing machines as well as Maytag washers. They're both great brands and each serves a specific niche in the marketplace. However, some people make the assumption that because they are made in the same factory a Maytag and Whirlpool washer are necessarily the same. Below are a comparably priced Maytag Maxima Front Load Washer and Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer. MAYTAG MAXIMA® FRONT LOAD WASHER WITH STEAM AND POWERWASH® SYSTEMMHW8100DW Whirlpool Smart Front Load Washer with 6th Sense Technology: Stainless SteelModel: WFL98HEBU Are they the same? It's like asking if you and your brother or sister are the same as you. You may have a lot of similarities, but are you really the same? A leading consumer magazine rated the Maytag machine #1, saying that the Whirlpool performed nearly as well as the Maytag, and they gave the Whirlpool a "Best Buy" based on its price and -

Take a Fresh Look at GE Monogram
GE Monogram Belongs in the Luxury Appliance CategoryWhen considering luxury appliance brands, some have discounted GE Monogram not because of the products but because of the "GE" in the Monogram brand name. General Electric is a big name in appliances anchored with the GE name. They include GE, GE Profile, GE Cafe, GE Artistry Series, and GE Monogram. Luxury customers seeking exclusivity can be put off by the association of the Monogram line with its sister GE brands of lower esteem. This is unfortunate.Consider that Whirlpool uses Jenn-Air as their brand in the super premium category. Frigidaire is the mass brand for Electrolux, while Electrolux brand and Electrolux Icon are their top end brand names. The German company BSH has similarly segmented its brands Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau. But somehow it's just not the same because General Electric has kept its name on Monogram appliances as GE Monogram. However, there is plenty of differentiation between GE Monogram and GE's other brands. For example, GE Monogram has a really well-featured and attractive line of professional style ranges and rangetops completely different from anything in the the rest of their portfolio. If you want the appearance and performance of pro ranges or rangetops, you should definitely consider GE Monogram. In built-In refrigerators and wine units, GE Monogram is one of only a few brands that also offers a lineup of integrated models. These can be installed flush with hidden hinges to -

GE shows no signs of stopping either. They continue to grow their model mix by adding colors and finishes such as the 2012 introduction of the Slate finish, and GE's more recent introduction of the Artistry Series. We've written about both of these product launches in previous blogs. Click Below: GE Slate Appliances GE Artistry Series See Video With all these choices in the GE appliance family it's easy to get confused. Here's a guide: While Whirlpool owns a stable of distinct -

Celebrate the Fourth of July with made in USA Appliances
Good News for Buyers of Made in the USA Appliances Get US Brand Appliances at Universal Appliance and Kitchen Center If you are looking forward to the 4th of July holiday season with all the attending appliance sale events, you might think about buying American, and you might be surprised to find out that there are many good choices of high quality US brands made in the USA. Below is a blog we published last year detailing your options. It might be interesting and worthwhile to look at the landscape of appliance brands and manufacturing to identify the brands by nationality and by where they are manufactured. In other words, which brands are "American" brands and what is manufactured in the U.S. By the way, we mean "made" or "manufactured" to also include assembly. Most manufacturing facilities today are primarily assembly factories where parts are attached to a chassis. American brands of major appliances include Whirlpool and GE as full-line manufacturers. Whirlpool is the largest appliance manufacturer in the world though over half their sales are in the U.S. Their headquarters are in the U.S. and they are listed on the U.S. stock exchange. Whirlpool also makes and sells U.S. appliances under these brand names: Amana, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid, and Maytag. They claim that over 80% of the appliances they sell in the U.S. are made in the U.S. Though listed on the U.S. stock exchange, GE is a true multi-national, doing business all over the world making and selling everything
